Rob McKenzie

Bio:
Rob has over 35 years experience in the corporate and commercial and insolvency areas of law. Rob was a longstanding partner in major national law firm Clayton Utz, founder of boutique firm McKenzie Moncrieff and then a board member and partner of Jackson McDonald.
He is a member of the Australian Takeovers Panel, a director a director of Keystart Loans Ltd (a company owned by the Western Australian Housing Authority) and a director of Black Swan State Theatre Company Ltd.
He has acted on a number of Australia’s most significant listed company reconstructions and was national chair of the Law Council of Australia’s Committee in the area. He has also chaired the Law Society of Western Australia’s Commercial Law Committee and Western Australia’s sub-committee of the Law Council of Australia’s Corporate Law Committee.
Rob acts for a range of major insolvency practitioners, accounting firms, public and major private companies and litigation funders and has acted for a number of government agencies and banks. He has been assisting in the commercialising of technology companies.
He regularly acts in resolving corporate and commercial disputes, and corporate governance issues in hostile corporate meetings and contests and the sale, purchase and financing of businesses and assets and structuring and implementation of projects in a diverse range of industry sectors; including mining, technology, property, transport, health, construction, agriculture, finance, franchising, liquor and mining and professional services. He has represented parties in a number of takeovers and successful Takeovers Panel applications. He has also acted on major litigation matters.
Rob was appointed by the Australian Federal government to the committees reviewing funding to non-government schools, Insolvency Practitioners and Controllers and in 2010 to the Round Table on Managed Investment Schemes.
He is a founding member of the International Insolvency Institute, was a representative of the UNCITRAL working group on cross border insolvency in Vienna and taught part-time at the University of Western Australia for 10 years.
