As a Chambers-ranked restructuring and insolvency lawyer, Kelly advises clients in all aspects of complex corporate restructuring, including both the litigation and commercial aspects of workouts, reorganizations, corporate arrangements, receiverships and other enforcement of security (both domestic and cross-border).
For over 20 years, Kelly has acted as strategic counsel to financial institutions, debtors, court-officers (including receivers, monitors and trustees in bankruptcy) and other stakeholders across a broad range of industries.
Kelly has appeared before all levels of courts in Canada, including acting as lead counsel to the senior secured lender in the matter of Redwater Energy Corp. before the Supreme Court of Canada in an important case dealing with priority of secured creditors claims as against abandonment and reclamation liabilities. She is recognized by clients and her peers as a leading lawyer in restructuring and insolvency in Canada, and a market leader in Calgary and nationally.
Kelly is the Vice President of the Insolvency Institute of Canada, Canada’s premier private sector, invitation only, insolvency organization dedicated to promotion of excellence in the field of insolvency. Kelly is a member of the Turnaround Management Association, INSOL International, the International Women's Insolvency & Restructuring Confederation, the Law Society of Alberta and the Law Society of Ontario, among others.
