Daniel K. Wootton

Bio:

Dan Wootton is a Partner with the firm's Advisory Services Group in Toronto and provides financial restructuring services to clients in a variety of industries including manufacturing, financial services, real estate, retail, distribution, hospitality and construction.

Dan’s practice is split between representing secured creditors, and debtors, as well as acting as a monitor on competition related matters.

In representing secured creditors and regulators, Dan has acted as an advisor to all of Canada's Schedule A chartered banks, as well as foreign financial institutions, non-traditional lenders, securities commission, and government agencies for the purpose of reviewing and reporting on their respective security positions, realization strategies, negotiations with debtors, and acting as a receiver to recover assets and proceeds.

In representing debtors, Dan has acted as a financial advisor to assist with solutions whether they be distressed re-financing, informal negotiations with creditors, restructuring strategies, turnaround advice, and acting as a Trustee or Monitor within a formal restructuring proceeding.

On competition matters, Dan has acted as monitor to ensure compliance and viability during mergers and acquisitions and where regulatory terms are placed to allow for such transactions to take place.

Dan is a member of Canadian Association of Insolvency and Restructuring Professionals, the Ontario Association of Insolvency and Restructuring Professionals, the Canadian Insolvency Foundation, the INSOL International, the International Insolvency Institute (NextGen) and the Turnaround Management Association (Toronto).

Dan has written articles and presented to a number of accounting, finance and legal associations on topics related to corporate restructuring. He is a past member of the board of directors for the Toronto Chapter of the Turnaround Management Association and works with many local charities.
