Bio:

Damilola is completing her doctoral research at Kent Law School, UK, where she also teaches undergraduate Contract and Tort Law. She holds a Bachelor of Civil Law (BCL) from the University of Oxford. Prior to her study at Oxford, she obtained her LL. B (first class honours) and B.L (first class honours) degrees from the University of Ibadan and the Nigerian Law School, finishing as the best graduating student in both institutions. Damilola has a keen interest in emerging markets and her current research aims to bring an African perspective to the discourse on corporate debt restructuring in fast changing commercial environments. In the course of her research, she has conducted empirical study in Nigeria and engaged with stakeholders from across Africa. Damilola regularly contributes to discussions on emerging developments in insolvency and has published articles and book chapters on the subject. She is also an Associate Research Fellow (Trade, Investments and Public Private Partnerships) at the OGEES Institute. Damilola is admitted to the Nigerian bar and has worked in the corporate, banking, energy and infrastructure departments of top tier commercial law firms, in Lagos and London. She retains a consultancy role where she is involved in the restructuring of distressed Nigerian companies. She is also a member of the Insolvency Lawyers’ Association (ILA), INSOL International and the Business Recovery and Insolvency Practitioners Association of Nigeria.
